So…I recently decided to uproot the family from the gloominess of London and head for the sun (and the heat) of Dubai. Having been here now for a little over a month I’m amazed at the growth of, what was a relatively small player on the global stage 15 years ago.

Yes, we still can’t have Waitrose delivering to our door, and there is still the old cheque system (I’m desperately praying that this will become defunct) and some cash points will charge you for your cash withdrawals…. But (as a good friend reminds me) we are in a ‘developing’ market.

Dubai is slowly but surely becoming a real metropolis….the melting pot of cultures, fashion, food and languages like London or New York. Post recession, it’s an exciting time to be here again…. There is a buzz in the city that shows renewed hope and employers across multiple industries are picking up the phone to and from recruiters once again.
